Donations of Stock

Donating stock not only provides Tostan with an appreciable asset, but it also gives donors additional tax benefits. Donations of appreciated stock are not subject to the capital gains tax, and you are able to claim a charitable deduction of the full, fair-market value of the security at the time of the gift, assuming that you have held the security at least one year.
