Our team

Current Project in Focus:
Expanding Tostan’s Impact through Jokkondiral Diaspora!
With years of experience working with communities in Senegal, Tostan has learned over time that it is essential for all community members to actively participate in affecting social change in order for it to be sustainable. Community partners have clearly demonstrated that the larger community not only includes indiv
iduals living within the boundaries of the community, but also those family members and friends who have moved to cities for work, as well as those who have immigrated abroad to seek opportunities internationally. To support inter-community dialogue and the engagement of community members abroad, Tostan-France actively works to partner and involve diaspora communities with the developments and changes occurring in their home communities. This is done through Tostan’s program, Jokkondiral Diaspora.
Communication, involvement, and capacity strengthening are the different lines of action Tostan France is involved in. Dialogue and cooperation with citizens associations are at the heart of the program Jokkondiral Diaspora. Our activities follow three areas:
Sharing
and transferring information on Tostan’s successes to the nationals of the beneficiary communities about the programs in Africa.
Participation
of the Diaspora to advocate human rights and public declarations to abandon female genital cutting (FGC) and early/forced marriage.
Program
implementation of modules tailored to the Tostan program from sub-Saharan communities residing in Europe and linked to beneficiary communities of the Tostan program in Africa.
