On March 8-10, inspiring leaders and activists gathered in New York City to share their visions for social justice, human rights, and gender equality at Newsweek and The Daily Beast’s 3rd Annual Women in the World Summit. Representing Tostan, Senegalese Community Activist Imam Demba Diawara and Gambian Youth Activist Abdoulie Sidibeh joined Tostan Founder and Executive Director Molly Melching on stage to discuss the importance of engaging men in the FGC abandonment movement. Conversing in both Wolof and English, their stories of community-led change kept the audience enraptured and led Tina Brown, Editor-in-Chief of Newsweek and The Daily Beast, to praise Tostan for exemplifying what the summit represents.
