As part of the implementation of the When She Leads, Everyone Succeeds project’s Community Understanding Meetings, 30 communities out of the 100 in the intervention regions benefited from the pilot phase of the Community Understanding Meetings as an experiment from November 15 to 30, 2021.
The purpose of the Community Understanding Meetings is to involve men (adults and youth) who have not had time to participate in the sessions, in order to understand the content of Tostan’s Community Empowerment Program in its entirety. As key actors in community decision-making, these meetings will allow them to be more involved in supporting the actions of the class participants and the Community Management Committee (CMC) for the well-being of all community members.

“I am delighted with the positive changes noted in the village especially in the areas of education (school monitoring is regular by the CMC), health (compliance with prenatal consultations and the vaccination schedule), hygiene (regular sanitation in the village).”
