About the Community of Practice

The Community of Practice for Amplifying Sustainable Community Well-being is a dynamic, interactive platform that brings together development professionals who are committed to human rights and community-led approaches. It provides space to share experiences, learn from one another, and collectively advance skills, knowledge and understanding of community-led development. 

By participating in the Community of Practice, you can:

  • Engage in meaningful discussions on various topics related to community development, human rights, and best practices.
  • Share your own experiences, challenges, and success stories with your peers, contributing to a wealth of knowledge and promoting continuous learning.
  • Connect with like-minded professionals from different organizations, sectors, and countries, expanding your network and opening doors to friendship, professional support and opportunities to collaborate.
  • Access state-of-the-art resources, tools, and case studies to inform and enhance your work–from Tostan, other members, and global leaders in community development.
  • Participate in webinars, workshops, and training sessions organized exclusively for the CoP members to further their professional development.

Who can join?

Alumni of Tostan’s Training Center seminars are invited to join this diverse, passionate network of individuals dedicated to applying the knowledge and skills gained during the training to make a lasting impact. The Tostan Training Center provides valuable training and resources to organizations across Africa and beyond, supporting them with skills, methods and knowledge to drive positive change through community-led development.

To support alumi’s ongoing learning and growth, the Community of Practice is a collaborative platform designed to facilitate knowledge exchange, foster peer-to-peer connections, and enhance professional development.

Community of Practice Governance

The Community formally launched in July 2023. It is co-created and co-led by a team of Tostan Training Center alumni known as the ‘Lafia Group’, hosted by Tostan serving as the Secretariat.

Join this vibrant, global network of passionate professionals dedicated to transforming communities and upholding human rights. To join the Community, you must have attended a Tostan-led seminar – all Tostan Training Center alumni are invited to participate and we’d love to hear from you.
