With the mission to build peace through the economic and social empowerment of Muslim women, Muslim Women’s Fund chose to fund Tostan’s microfinance initiative in four communities in the Kaolack Region of Senegal. The funds they contributed will go towards providing small loans to women who are leading income-generating projects in their communities using skills and knowledge they acquired through Tostan’s Community Empowerment Program (CEP), which participating communities completed in 2003.
This unique partnership between Muslim Women’s Fund and Tostan was highlighted in the most recent edition of Islamic Horizons, the magazine of the Islamic Society of North America.
