Tostan's Statement on the US Government Funding Freeze
Tostan stands in solidarity with communities and partner organizations deeply affected by the US Government funding freeze. Although our programs are not directly impacted, many of our partner organizations and the communities we work alongside face serious challenges.
This freeze threatens to stall critical programs advancing education, health, and economic opportunity, slowing the remarkable progress communities have made toward their vision of wellbeing.
Yet, we remain hopeful. Over 34 years of partnership with communities across Africa have taught us that mutual support and collective solidarity are powerful forces for overcoming even the most severe challenges. We witnessed this strength during the COVID-19 pandemic, when communities, despite limited resources, found creative ways to protect and support one another.
In times of uncertainty, solidarity becomes even more essential. We extend our deepest gratitude to our supporters, partners, and development practitioners who have stood by our community partners year after year. Your commitment has driven lasting progress and built strong foundations that will endure beyond this crisis.
