Celebrating a Year of Impact: Tostan’s Annual Report 2023

2023 was a pivotal year for Tostan, as it was the first year of implementation of  our new strategy 2023-2030: In Partnership for Community Wellbeing. Our new strategic direction brought fresh energy and focus to our work, allowing us to enhance  our impact and forge stronger partnerships to supports partner communities. 

We are excited to share our 2023 Annual Report, which highlights the progress and key achievements that are shaping the future of our organization and the communities we serve. 

With your support and partnership in 2023, 

•  Our Community Empowerment Program (CEP) reached nearly 23,000 adults and young people, primarily girls and women, who gained essential knowledge in human rights, health, the environment, literacy, and numeracy 
• 432 communities in three countries publicly declared respect for human rights and the abandonment of harmful practices.
• we organized 925 campaign to promote peace and security 
• we collaborated with a network of partners and organizations from 11 countries through sharing and training on Tostan’s community, human rights-based approach and principles 
• we convened 180 social change agents from 20 countries in Thiès, Senegal,  for an inaugural Wellbeing Summit in Africa. 

As we move forward, the successes of 2023 inspire us to continue building on the foundation we’ve laid. Our commitment to partnership-driven development will guide our efforts in the years to come, as we work alongside communities to create lasting, positive change.
